As mentioned earlier, Photoshop is an amazing tool since you almost have the world at your fingertips when it comes to editing photographs (as long as you use it ethically). After you take a picture of a person for example, you can change the lighting and the background of the photo to make it look more dynamic. For example, Scott Kelby in his blog on November 12 takes a picture of :

Which in the end looks like this:

Photoshop is a vital tool to have in any organization whether you are in the marketing department to an advertiser to a web designer. Workers use Photoshop for instance if they need to make their websites stand out and look nice or if they want to ensure that the interior of the mall looks suitable to the prospective stores looking to buy the space. Many employers are looking for people with Photoshop knowledge so you need to make sure you acquire that knowledge before it is too late!

Adobe Photoshop is a great application to use. Photoshop can be utilized with magazines, flyers, billboards, etc. to enhance an image, add text with effects to a photograph, etc. For example, there can be a great picture of a couple in front of a nice building but there are a couple of random people in the background and a stop sign. Using Photoshop, a person can take out the random people and the stop sign to make the picture look more special. But, people may take advantage of the abilities Photoshop can do to an original document as well. For example, in the Digital Photography article written by Bonnie Meltzer, she mentions how there was a cover of OJ Simpson on Time Magazine which shows, “Simpson’s face darker, blurrier, and unshaven.” While the illustrator for Time  Magazine wanted to make the picture “more artful, more compelling,” than the mug shot of Simpson in Newsweek, this goes into the questions of ethics on whether a police photo should be manipulated or are “certain kinds of images symbols for complicated attitudes and issues,” being shown in the picture according to Meltzer. I agree that Photoshop should not be used to add effect to a criminal for example because that can be unfair for the person in the picture to make them look more like a stereotypical bad guy. I even find it silly that some pictures are Photo shopped to make a person look like a completely different human being which is very deceiving. Some people strive to look like a person on a magazine which may not even be their actual appearance! Photoshop should be used to enhance a photo, not change a person/photo completely or in an unfair way.

A=Attention: People visit southwest.com to travel somewhere using Southwest Airlines. Most people love Southwest because of the low fares and you get to fly with two bags for free.  Southwest Airlines really captured my attention on the top part of the page saying “Nationwide Sale fares starting at just $69 one-way. What a deal! On the top left of the page has the Southwest logo and right below it says Special Offers: Great Travel Deals. It seems as if there are deals everywhere on this site.

I=Interest: On the top of the website, it says “Why Fly Southwest” and it includes air, hotel, car, and vacations. People including me may have not known that you can use Southwest Airlines to book hotels, car rentals, or even full-packaged vacations on the same site. Since the airline offers cheap prices for its flights (noticed from its Nationwide Sale Picture), it makes me think they offer cheap hotel, car rental, and vacation prices. How convenient!

D=Desire: Southwest is able to show different kind of deals on the home page that I would not be sure to look for if the information wasn’t there.  For example, where you can save up to 40$ on a hotel stay, or “Save 30% + earn double points with Alamo.” They even say there is a new destination for Southwest which is in Branson, Missouri. Items like these make me want to check out the page more often.

A=Action: The website gives you easy to click links on information you are looking for. There is a large search button from where you type in the departure city and arrival city and dates of flight(s) which states how you could easily see different trips for those criteria. There are even links for the spontaneous people which includes “Where We Fly” because maybe someone is going to randomly choose where they want to go. If you have a social media page including Facebook, they have a link where it says you can “Become a Fan: Facebook.” Easy to see links for your eyes!
